By finishing bottom of the Football League in 2000/01 Barnet were relegated to the Nationwide Conference, being replaced by Conference champions Rushden & Diamonds (2000/01 Nationwide Conference table). After 4 seasons back in non-league football Barnet were promoted back into the Football League after finishing as Nationwide Conference champions in 2004/05 (2004/05 Conference table).
