The season started badly for Bristol Rovers when their South Stand was destroyed by fire after their first League match forcing them to play 5 matches at Bristol City's Ashton Gate Ground. Details.

The season also ended badly for Bristol Rovers when they - and Bristol City - were both relegated to the Third Division.

With the poor form of their football clubs perhaps the Bristol folk had good reason to attend a unusual floodlit match at Ashton Gate. Along with Stamford Bridge the grounds hosted floodlit cricket!

Amazingly Watford fought back from a 4-0 League Cup first leg defeat at Southampton to progress in the competition - it's never over!
