After beating New Brighton on November 7th, Rochdale lost their next 16 League matches and only picked up a single point before the end of the season (that in the away match at New Brighton!).

On Saturday January 2nd 1932 a new record was set when 209 goals were scored in the 43 Football League matches played that day (the record was equalled in 1935/36.

Left League Wigan Borough resigned from the League on October 26th 1931 due to financial problems. They had played 12 matches but their playing record was declared void. For details of the matches Wigan Borough played in 1931/32, click on Wigan Borough

R At the end of the season Mansfield Town were transferred from the Southern to the Northern section to make up the numbers in the North following Wigan's demise. Only one club was required to seek re-election at the AGM. Voting -

Football League clubs have conceded a century or more of League goals 119 times, the worst being 141 conceded in just 34 Second Division matches by Darwen. The worst top flight goals against figure was set by Blackpool (125 in 1930/31) - and they weren't relegated!
