      LEAGUE 1    2004/05

Leading League goalscorers:
Stuart Elliott
 (Hull City) &
Dean Windass
(Bradford City)
 27  goals each

In December 2004 Wrexham gained the unfortunate distinction of becoming to first League club to have a 10-point deduction after entering administration. It ultimately cost them a place in the division.

With Hartlepool having won 5-1 at Wrexham in December and the two sides still at opposite ends of the table another defeat for Wrexham looked odds-on when the two sides met at the Victoria Ground on Saturday March 5th 2005. However Wrexham won 6-4 with Juan Ugarte scoring a club record equalling five goals.

A new name in the Football League. Having made the move to Milton Keynes a year earlier, Wimbledon changed their name to Milton Keynes Dons, playing their first match under that title against Barnsley on Saturday August 7th 2004.
