      DIVISION 2    1990/91

Leading League goalscorer:
Teddy Sheringham
 (Millwall)
 33  goals

A double for Sheffield Wednesday. Promotion to the First Division and League Cup winners (after 9 matches) with a final victory over Manchester United at Wembley.

Top Division 2 goalscorer
Teddy Sheringham
missed out on helping his Millwall side gain promotion to the top flight but his goals earned him a move to Cloughie's Nottingham Forest at the end of the season. Sheringham's 33 League goals in 1990/91 included 4 hat-tricks and he ended his playing days with what was then the all-time goalscoring record at the Den - 93 goals in 220 League outings since his debut in the 1983/84 season.

WBA drew the last 5 matches of the season 1-1 - had they won any of them they would have saved themselves from relegation but instead it was the Third Division next season for the first time in their history.
