Plenty of goals at Sealand Road with Chester scoring 119 League goals - at the time the tenth best goals total for a season in League history. Eight of the clubs with higher totals finished top of their respective divisions - the other one finished second - but Chester finished just eighth this season. They may have scored 119 - but they also let in 81! So that was 200 goals in 46 league matches with their cup-ties also seeing plenty of goals - four of their 6 cup ties saw either Chester of their opponents score 5 goals. That wasn't the case for their top match of the season - a narrow 2-1 FA Cup Third Round defeat to Manchester United at Old Trafford in front of 45,660 fans.
