Pongo Waring made his debut for Aston Villa in a reserve match - and 23,667 turned up to watch him.  Debuts.

Another notable debut was made by Newcastle United's Andy Cunningham against Leicester City on February 2nd 1929 - at 38 years 2 days old he was the oldest player ever to make his Football League debut.  Debuts.

Newcastle fielded a team of 10 Scots and an Englishman  against Leeds in October.

Cardiff City had the best defensive record in the Division conceding just 59 goals - but they finished bottom and were relegated!
