Note: Because of the interest created by the tie, Spurs installed temporary benches to accommodate extra fans for their FA Cup Second Round match against Aston Villa at White Hart Lane. As the first half came to an end with Spurs 0-1 down the occupants of those seats spilled onto the pitch, followed by many other disgruntled fans. They would not leave the pitch and so the referee was forced to abandon the match. Spurs were fined £350 and ordered to play the replay at Villa Park.
