|  |  |  |  |  |  | Following a scandal based on illegal
      payments, Leeds City were expelled from the Football League on October
      19th and immediately disbanded. They played their last Football League
      fixture away to Wolves on October 4th 1919 but rather than their results
      being expunged and the division being completed one team short Port Vale
      took over over their fixture list and completed the season. Port Vale had
      applied to join the League in their own right prior to the start of the
      season but had finished one vote off from being elected. Leeds City
      Reserves competed in the Midland League and like their first team,
      disbanded. The newly-formed Leeds United club, formed after the demise of Leeds City, were invited to
      take over the fixtures of Leeds City Reserves and were elected to the
      Midland League on 31st October. They applied to join the Football League
      at the end of their first season and on 31st May 1920 they were elected to
      the Second Division  with the voting being as follows - |
