      South Shore started the season in the Lancashire League but their record was expunged when they amalgamated with Blackpool during the course of the season.
     
      With Luton Town not seeking re-election to the League one Football League place was available to a new entrant. The top three sides in the Lancashire League joined two other non-league sides and the two clubs seeking re-election to the Second Division in the vote for Football League membership. Voting -
