* Middlesbrough had 3 points deducted for the unauthorised calling off of their match at Blackburn in December when they had team selection problems due to injuries and illness. The points deduction saw them relegated - a sad ending to a season which had also seen them beaten in the finals of both the FA Cup and Coca Cola Cup - postponed matches.
