In February 1995 the then owner of JJB Sports Dave Whelan bought his local club, Wigan Athletic. Few believed the former Blackburn Rovers player (he broke a leg playing for them against Wolves in the 1960 FA Cup Final) when he said he would take the Latics to the Premier Division. Ten years later Wigan were in the Premier Division. |
