Southend United went on a goal-spree in the FA Cup, scoring 19 goals in two matches against non-leaguers. In the First Round they beat King's Lynn 9-0 and in the Second Brentwood were beaten 10-1, both matches being played at Roots Hall. Against King's Lynn both Gary Moore and Billy Best scored 3 goals apiece while against Brentwood Moore hit 4 goals and Best scored 5.
