In the First Division match between Sheffield United and Bury on Saturday April 30th 1927 Bury's Sam Wynne - who was probably best remembered for scoring 2 goals for each side in an Oldham v Manchester United match in 1923 - collapsed during the match and died in the dressing rooms of pneumonia. The match was abandoned (more details).
