  Leading goalscorer:
Bob Turnbull
 (Chelsea)
 29  goals

A seemingly small change in the offside rule brought a dramatic increase in goals scored. The number of opponents needed to keep a player onside was reduced from 3 to 2.  As a result the total number of goals scored in Division 2 increased from 1068 in 1924/25 to 1487, up by almost 40%. There were some amazing individual results - for example at home Darlington beat Portsmouth 7-1, Clapton Orient 6-0 and Sheffield Wednesday 5-1 but away from home lost 2-5 at Chelsea and
1-6 at both Port Vale and Stoke.
