On making their debut in the Football League on Saturday August 27th 1921 Stalybridge Celtic recorded what was to be their record League score - 6-0 at their Bower Fold ground against Chesterfield. Stalybridge only survived two seasons in the Football League.

Neither Halifax Town or Wigan Borough entered the FA Cup as they would have been expected to play through the qualifying rounds.
