* The weather robbed Everton of recording their second League championship in 1904/05. Their match at Woolwich Arsenal in November was abandoned after 76 minutes due to fog with Everton leading 3-1. When the match was eventually played again, just before the end of the season when they had to play 3 matches in 4 days, Everton lost 2-1. If the original match had been completed (and if the scoreline had remained the same), Everton would have pipped Newcastle to the title by a point.

** The FA Cup semi-final against Aston Villa was played at the Victoria Ground, Stoke FC, and the replay at Trent Bridge, Notts County FC.
